My Bradford Pear Leaves are Turning Brown With No Blooms

    Description

    • Bradford pear grows to a height of 25 to 40 feet. It is grown mainly for its ornamental features. It blooms with showy white flowers in the spring. Bradford pear trees are susceptible to fire blight and bacterial leaf scorch.

    Fire Blight

    • Fire blight causes twigs to appear scorched, blossom clusters to wilt and turn brown or black, and leaves to turn dark brown. The cause is the Erwinia amylovare bacterium. Control includes sterilizing pruning tools, chemical control and cultural practices.

    Leaf Scorch

    • Insufficient water supply to the leaves causes leaf scorch. The leaves turn brown at the margins and will fall from the tree. Deep watering prevents leaf scorch.
