My PC Won't Recognize the Smart Card in a USB Smart Card Terminal

- 1). Connect the USB smart card terminal to the computer system after the computer has booted up. If you do so beforehand, the computer may not detect the connected equipment.
- 2). Remove the USB smart card terminal from the computer, then plug it into a different USB port. Some USB ports fail to read specific equipment, or just die out. Changing the USB connection may correct the reading issues.
- 3). Install the driver for the USB smart card. The driver comes on a provided driver installation CD. Insert the installation CD into the computer, then follow the prompts of the installation wizard to completely install the driver onto the computer. Restart the system for the driver to take affect.
- 4). Check the SD card. Make sure the small switch on the side of the card is in the down position. If it isn't, the card is in "write protection mode," which prevents you from saving additional data to the card, or from deleting information from the card.
