How to Test a DCH3416 DVR

    • 1). Turn on your DVR by pushing the "Power" button on the front panel or on the remote control.

    • 2). Change the channels using one of several methods. Go the front panel of the device and push "Channel +" or "Channel --" to scroll up or down through the channels; use the remote control by entering the channel number with the number keys; or access the "Interactive Program Guide" and select a channel.

    • 3). Turn the volume up or down by pushing "Volume +" or "Volume --" on the remote control. You'll see a volume scale on the screen. Push the "Mute" button to turn off the sound and push it again to reactivate the sound.

    • 4). Use the "Interactive Program Guide" to view information about TV shows, access parental controls and access "Pay-Per-View" options. These guides are set up differently depending on your service provider. Access the "Interactive Program Guide" by pushing the center button on the front panel of the device or by pushing the "Guide" button on the remote control. The guide should pop up on the screen immediately.

    • 5). Manipulate the video output format by pushing the "Format" button located on the front panel of the DVR. Choose from the following formats to view your program: "High Definition 1080i" (1920-by-1080 pixels), "High Definition 720p" (1280-by-720 pixels), "Enhanced Definition 480p" (720-by-480 pixels) or "Standard Definition 480i" (720-by-480 pixels).

    • 6). Record a TV program using the "Interactive Program Guide" and the prompts on the screen when selecting the program. Using the record button and the lettered soft keys on your remote, you can store and navigate through a library of recorded shows, control a live television show (recording and navigating), watch one program while you record another, and record two shows while watching another recorded program.
