- 1). Fill a bucket with one gallon of hot water and add 1/2 a cup of household cleaner. Choose one that doesn't contain bleach.
- 2). Wet a cloth with the solution and use it to scrub the outside of the jug.
- 3). Rinse the outside of the jug, when all stains are removed.
- 4). Fill the jug with equal parts white vinegar and water. Let it sit overnight.
- 5). Empty the jug and rinse it well. If stains remain, scrub them with a paste made from baking soda and water. Use a bottle brush to reach difficult areas of the jug.
