How to Execute a 3-on-3 Basketball Offense With Screen and Roll
- 1). Assign positions for the "High Elbow" offensive set. Ideally, each player should be able to play multiple positions to take advantage of matchup advantages.
PG= Point Guard
W= Wing
P= Post - 2). PG starts with ball at top of key. In most 3-on-3 tournaments, the ball must be passed into play to start the offense.
- 3). W is at the free throw line extended-approximately where the extended line would meet the three-point line. W chooses to start at the right wing or the left wing.
- 4). P sets up in the corner on the same side as W. P should be in alignment with W about 12 to 15 feet away.
- 1). PG passes to W and cuts to opposite wing. This essentially gets PG's defender away from the ball so P and W can work a two-person game.
- 2). P comes up from corner and sets a screen for W while facing the half-court line (back to the baseline).
- 3). W uses the screen and penetrates towards the baseline.
- 4). P rolls from the screen towards the elbow.
- 5). W makes the best decision between taking a shot (jump shot or lay-up), passing to the rolling P, or skip passing to PG for a jump shot.

- 2). P approaches W to set a baseline screen.
- 3). As P gets almost into position to set the screen, P "slips" it by cutting to the basket for a pass from W for an easy lay-up.
- 4). If P does not get the pass from W, P cuts through the lane and sets a back screen for PG. PG reads the defense and cuts to the open spot for a pass from W or stays clear of the lane if W begins to drive to the basket.
