Decorating With Blonde Brick

    Use It for Flooring

    • If you are looking for a way to incorporate blond brick into your home, brick tile flooring is an ideal option. Brick is a durable material, so the tiles can work well in your kitchen, hallway, mudroom or other heavily-trafficked areas. The rough surface of brick adds a rustic look while the golden shade adds a cozy, warm feeling. Because blond brick is pale, it is also an ideal flooring material if you want to make a smaller room feel larger. You can lay the tile in an elegant herringbone pattern or even mix blond brick with other shades like red, terracotta and brown to create a patchwork effect.

    Pair With Warm Colors

    • For a room that features an exposed blond brick wall, you should incorporate other warm tones to complement the golden tone of the brick. However, because the brick is light in color, choose warm shades that are richer and more saturated, such as rust, wine or chocolate brown, to contrast with the brick’s golden tones. Painting the surrounding walls in one of these darker colors will actually help the exposed blond brick stand out so it becomes a focal point in the room. If you prefer a monochromatic look, though, paint the other walls in a golden color that is a shade darker or lighter than the brick. The similar tones create an elegant backdrop for the room and allow you to choose furniture and accent pieces in a variety of colors for a warm, comfortable room.

    Use Dark Furniture

    • If your room has an exposed blond brick wall or a blond brick mantle, it usually helps to choose furniture in darker shades. A light, neutral-colored sofa or armchair may look drab when paired with the light tones of the brick. However, a chocolate brown, black or wine-colored sofa will pop against the golden look of the brick to give the room a distinctive look. You can add throw pillows to the sofa that are similar in color to the blond brick to help tie the look together.

    Try Cool Tones

    • While dark neutral or warm shades can provide a contrast with blond brick, cool colors usually create the most interesting contrast of all. In a room with exposed blond brick or a brick fireplace surround, paint the walls a soothing blue or green shade. The cool tones in the paint color will accentuate the warmth of the brick to give the room a balanced but striking look. If you choose a pale shade of blue and green, it also helps give the room a bright, airy feel that you can accentuate with accessories that have a similar feel, such as white sheers for the windows. The sheer fabric will also contrast with the heavy, rustic look of the brick for an individualized look.
