Inca Trail Information
- The Inca Trail covers 45 kilometers and reaches altitudes as high as 4,200 meters. It begins in Cusco, Peru and ends in the "Lost City of the Incas," Machu Picchu.
- There is a variety of scenery to see while trekking through the Inca Trail. These include cloud-forest atmospheres on the mountains, sub-tropical jungles at lower altitudes and old Inca ruins throughout.
- There are three main treks on the Inca Trail. The traditional is a four-day hike and there is also a shorter two-day and longer seven-day hike available.
- The best months to see the Inca Trail are May through September, when it is dry and sunny. June/September weather can still be a little cold, though, at night.
- The trek is a moderate hike throughout, meaning anyone in good physical condition should have no problem trekking. Easier treks are available should they be desired.
