- 1). Connect the iPhone to the computer via the USB connection cable that came with the device. If the iTunes application does not launch automatically, double-click the application icon to launch the application.
- 2). Click the iPhone name beneath the "Devices" heading in the iTunes application window.
- 3). Under the iTunes "Summary" tab, choose "Restore." Alternatively, right-click the device and select the "Restore from Backup..." option from the context menu. Confirm that you want to restore the device to factory settings. Do not choose "set up as a new device," as this selection erases all information stored in iTunes for your iPhone. Allow several minutes for the restoration process to finish.
- 4). When the restoration process is complete, sync the iPhone to transfer all your information including your contact list to the iPhone. It may be necessary to update your iPhone software to the current version as well.
