How to Troubleshoot 3rd Generation iPod Nano Video & Sound
- 1). Completely charge the iPod Nano. If the MP3 player's battery is failing the video and audio are both going to begin to malfunction and not play correctly.
- 2). Perform a hard shut-down. If the audio begins to stick or the video freezes, this is going to fix the problem. Push the on/off switch to off and hold down the "Menu" and "Center" button. This turns off the device. Leave it off for a few moments, then power it back on.
- 3). Check your headphone connection. If the headphones are not inserted completely into the headphone jack, the audio is not going to play through the headphones (or the audio sounds muffled).
- 4). Sync the iPod Nano with your computer. If a system upgrade is required, allow it to download and install onto the iPod. This is going to correct the audio and video problems you are encountering.
- 5). Restore your iPod. Make sure that you have all the files and information on your iPod backed up or saved in iTunes, as this will erase all files currently on the device. As long as you have all of your files in iTunes, they will all be reloaded onto your iPod. Only proceed through this step if you have tried everything else and are still experiencing problems.
Plug your iPod into your computer and open iTunes. Select your iPod in the source list and click "Restore." Select the restore preferences you desire. After the restore process, you will be prompted to name and sync your iPod, replacing all the files.
