How to Clean the Ultimate Dutch Oven

    • 1). Rinse the cast-iron Dutch oven and its parts with hot water as soon as possible after using them. Do not let water sit in the pot, which could cause it to rust.

    • 2). Clean any stuck-on food with a plastic scrub brush. Do not use steel wool or metal cleaning tools on the Dutch oven or its accessories.

    • 3). Add some coarse salt as a scrubbing agent if the brush alone is not doing the job.

    • 4). Rinse the Dutch oven and its parts again with hot water and dry them immediately and fully.

    • 5). Rub a thin coating of cooking oil or shortening on the inside surface of the Dutch oven, its grill racks and the inside of its lid. This will preserve the seasoned cast iron's nonstick properties.
