Tech Information on SanDisk

    Flash Drive Technology

    • Clearly, the flash drive business is SanDisk's bread and butter. The current product line has found its way not just into computer portability but also digital photography, cellular phones, USB-format peripherals, computer air-card modems, music and movie players, camcorders and more.

    Research Depth

    • The company owns more than 850 patents in the U.S. on technology designs, and more than half that amount in overseas patents as well. This depth in design intellectual property provides a wide stable of material to draw on for new product releases as needed. As a result, just about every major flash card memory format that is available is somehow owned by SanDisk.

    Coding Inventions

    • SanDisk is currently pushing the forefront in equipment programming to allow for common adoption of solid-state hard drives in computers to come. This new approach is expected to significantly improve writing and data storage speed via better algorithms. The improved algorithms use storage space more efficiently, improving storage performance.

    Improved Recovery Benefits

    • SanDisk is pushing nCache as the answer to loss of information when a computer's power suddenly goes out and the data is not saved. Conventional computers try to save data in periodic temporary memory, and sometimes you can recover the last file you worked on. However, with nCache the working data is immediately saved as it is created automatically, ensuring full recovery after every loss of power.

    Data Security

    • As the popularity of flash drives skyrockets due to ease of use and significant storage capacity (some drives have more storage than some desktop computers), security of the drives becomes a major issue. Their size and portability offer significant data loss risks if the flash drive is stolen or misplaced. SanDisk's product packaging continues to include encryption and security features to protect access to flash drives if lost or illegally taken.
