How to Kill a Colony of Ants

    • 1). Place ant granules in a broadcaster. Start at one corner of the treatment area and walk in a back-and-forth pattern across the width or length of the area. Observe how wide a path the broadcaster covers and walk so that the paths do not overlap.

    • 2). Turn the handle of the broadcaster to apply the ant granules evenly over the property. Turn the handle in a forward motion to start broadcasting the ant granules.

    • 3). Apply the baits at an even rate by matching walking speed to handle turning speed. Lessen application by turning the handle slower and walking faster. Increase application by walking slower and turning the broadcast handle slower.

    • 4). Apply 1 lb. of ant bait per acre or 15 to 25 particles per each square foot. Overapplication will be wasting bait particles. Spreading ant bait granules over the entire yard will ensure that worker ants will take the particles back to the colony for a food source.
