How to Make a Reindeer Pin Using a Dog Biscuit

    Reindeer Construction

    • 1). Place a dog biscuit on your work surface, and orient the biscuit vertically.

    • 2). Apply hot glue to the back of two small googly eyes. Place the googly eyes a third of the way down from the top of the biscuit.

    • 3). Apply hot glue to the back of a small red or black pom-pom to create the nose. Use red for a Rudolph reindeer or black for any other reindeer. Place the pom-pom on the dog biscuit right above where the biscuit dents in at the bottom.

    • 4). Cut a brown chenille-covered pipe cleaner into two 2-inch pieces. Cut two more 1/2-inch pieces from the original pipe cleaner.

    • 5). Wrap one 1/2-inch piece around a 2-inch piece. Place the short piece 1/4-inch down from the top edge, twisting it to create a three-pronged end to the pipe cleaner. Repeat the process with the other 2-inch and 1/2-inch pieces to create two antlers.

    • 6). Apply hot glue to the end of the 2-inch pipe cleaners without the prongs. Press the pipe cleaners to the back top of the dog biscuit, where the antlers should be.

    • 7). Apply hot glue to the flat side of a pin back. Press the pin back to the back of the dog biscuit reindeer, centering it in the middle. Let the glue dry for three to five minutes before wearing the pin.

    Dog Biscuit Recipe

    • 1). Beat one egg until the yolk is combined with the white. Mix in 1 tsp. salt and 3/4 cups hot water.

    • 2). Incorporate 3 cups whole-wheat flour to the mixture, adding the flour in 1/2-cup increments. Stir after each addition.

    • 3). Place the dough on a flour-dusted work surface and knead the dough with your hands for three to four minutes or until it becomes stiff.

    • 4). Roll the dough out using a rolling pin until it is 1/2 inch thick. Cut out 1- to 2-inch bone shapes from the dough using a cookie cutter or cut them by hand with a knife. Transfer them to an ungreased baking sheet.

    • 5). Bake the bones for 50 minutes in a 325-degree Fahrenheit oven. Remove and let them cool completely.
