Beach RV Campgrounds

    Carpenteria State Beach

    • Carpenteria State Beach lies on the southern California coast, 12 miles south of Santa Barbara. The area was once the home to the Chumash Native Americans, who used it to build ocean-going canoes. Upon seeing this, the Spanish christened the area with their word for “carpenter.”

The beach is a mile long and offers opportunities to surf, swim, explore tide pools, fish in the surf and camp. From December to May, gray whales can be seen from the shoreline along with an abundance of sea lions and seals. Tent and RV camping sites are available. Maximum RV length is 35 feet. Sites vary in length and width and not all accommodate slide-out RVs. Most sites have water and electric hookups. Some are meant for “boondocking” or camping without services. Restrooms and showers are available, and there is water onsite for onboard tanks. The camp area also has a dump station, convenience store and visitor’s center.

Campsites offer picnic tables and fire rings, and most can be accessed by the physically challenged. A beach wheelchair can be reserved prior to arrival. Dogs are allowed in the camp area but not on the beach. The maximum stay is seven nights.

    North Beach Camp Resort

    • Just 24 miles south of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, the North Beach Camp Resort offers beachfront camping on a barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and the North River. The 30-acre site features plenty of oak trees and palmettos for shade and the double delight of sunrise on the ocean and sunset over the river. The resort also operates the Victory III, a sightseeing boat that offers cruises of the inland waterways of St. Augustine out of the city’s marina.

This yea- round park offers 150 spaces, which are graveled and large enough for slide-outs. All sites offer full hookups and 30- or 50-amp electrical service. The 26 pull-through sites are 90 feet long, and the back-ins are 60 feet in length. Cable TV and wireless Internet service is available at all RV sites. North Beach welcomes pets, but there are size and breed restrictions.

Park services include a book exchange library, laundry, showers, restrooms, dump station and a grocery store. Additional amenities include a pool, hot tub, shuffleboard, horseshoe pits, children’s playground and a recreation hall. The campground also features a boat ramp to launch small craft and boat rentals.
