How Exercise Can Stop Your Anxiety and Panic Attacks
Anxiety and panic attacks can make life almost unbearable.
You never know when and even or a subconscious thought may trigger an attack that can literally disable you for the day, making you feel as if you are about to die and helpless to do anything about it.
I know, I suffered from anxiety and panic attacks that were so intense that they brought me to tears on one occasion, required my wife to leave work and come home, forced a family member to pull off a freeway because I could not bear to be in a car even as a passenger.
That's just a few examples.
I am over 50 years old, a professional with a wonderful life and never suffered from any type of health condition before these episodes.
But those anxiety and attacks, once they started, made life almost unbearable.
I had to find a solution.
One afternoon I was having a chat with a Doctor of Chinese Medicine who suggested that I incorporate exercise into my daily regimen.
I have always been very active but not an exercise fanatic.
I asked why or how exercise would help end my panic attacks and anxiety attacks.
He replied that exercise was a powerful and effective stress reliever and could help the body restore a sense of balance while releasing toxins and pent up energies, making the triggering of an attack less likely.
I took his advice and began a routine of daily walks with my dog, increasing the length and time of the walk each day.
I would also take walks with my wife though neighborhood green belts and around the lake where we live.
The walks were enjoyable, certainly healthy for both human and pup and did in fact help me eliminate and stop my panic attacks.
