How to Sew Coconut Leaves

    • 1). Choose leaves of the same length and width. If you can't find identical leaves, you can carefully tear the sides of each blade to trim the width of the leaves.

    • 2). Lay your leaves side by side. Grab two leaves and sew the right edge of one leaf to the left edge of the other leaf. Ensure you sew your leaves at least 2 inches in from the edges to avoid ripping the leaves. You should have two sewn-together leaves.

    • 3). Sew a third leaf onto the right edge of the set of joined leaves. Keep adding leaves until you are happy with the length of your row of leaves. Sew another row of leaves so you can weave them together.

    • 4). Place one row of sewn leaves horizontally on a flat surface. Place the second row of sewn leaves vertically beside the first row. The long leaves of row two will be on top of row one, so you can begin weaving them together.

    • 5). Take the first leaf of row two and start looping that single leaf through the strands of leaves of row one following an over, under, over, under pattern. Attach the clothesline clips on the loose edges while you do the over-under method on the rest of the leaves.
