• Insects are another very popular bait that is effective in catching trout, as insects are the usual food these fish look for. Bugs such as grasshoppers, crickets or May flies will attract the trout from their slumber along the bottom of a pond and even lure them out of a cave in the bank with their movement. Technique

• Whatever bait you use, if you are fishing for trout during the midday hours it is a good idea to drop your bait a few feet above the place you might feel there may be trout and let it drift with the currents, allowing it to roll along on the bottom where the trout usually are. This will make your bait more enticing to the fish. Make sure to guide your bait around any obstacles such as logs or debris.
