How to Troubleshoot a Maytag Dependable Care
- 1). Check that the Maytag washing machine is properly plugged into a working electrical outlet if the device does not operate. Check the circuit breaker or fuse and replace/reset as needed.
- 2). Close the washing machine lid and verify it has latched into place, as the washer will not operate if the lid is not closed properly.
- 3). Verify that the control knob has been turned to point toward a wash cycle and pulled out to start the washer.
- 4). Straighten the water inlet hoses and turn the water faucets on completely if the washing machine won't fill or the water level seems low.
- 5). Wash the clothes again without detergent if the washing machine did not spin or drain. This can be caused by an excess of detergent, creating too many suds in the washer and resulting in a "Suds Lock."
- 6). Ensure all hose connections are firmly inserted into the washing machine and are tightened if water is leaking. Keep the load size to a medium level, as water can deflect off items on the top of the load if the washer is too full.
- 1). Ensure the Maytag Dependable Care dryer is properly connected to a live power outlet if it is not working. Check and replace/reset the circuit breakers or fuses if necessary.
- 2). Ensure the gas valve is turned on if the dryer is a gas model and produces no heat. Choose a heat setting.
- 3). Close the dryer door firmly, and push in the selected dry cycle followed by the "Start" button to begin the dryer operation.
- 4). Clean the lint screen if the dryer seems to dry for a long time or items are still damp. Check the exhaust hood and clean lint and debris to improve air flow. Large loads will take longer to dry and may not dry completely.
- 5). Remove foreign objects from inside the dryer if the unit is noisy. Items such as pens, coins or keys can fall out of pockets and cause noise during use. Look for objects along the drum seal, as well.
