How to Clean Adhesive Glue from Carpet

    • 1). Lift up as much of the glue as you can with a scraper. If it has hardened already, you can use petroleum jelly to loosen it up, or you can put a 1/8-inch stack of warm, wet paper towels on top of it for an hour.

    • 2). Combine a tablespoon of liquid hand soap and two cups of warm water. Apply the mixture to the glue that is still left on the carpet with a clean cloth. Continue to pat repeatedly on the wet glue until it has been removed by the cloth. However, this may not already always lift up all of the glue.

    • 3). Combine a tablespoon of ammonia and two cups of warm water if there is still glue left on the carpet. Apply the mixture to the remaining glue with a new clean cloth. Pat down repeatedly until all of the glue has been lifted by the cloth.

    • 4). Apply cold water with a new clean cloth to the area of your carpet where the glue was. Use another dry, clean cloth to remove the moisture from your carpet when you have finished.
