- 1). Tap the "Settings" icon from the home screen on your iPhone.
- 2). Tap "Sounds" to open your sound options.
- 3). Tap the button to the right of "Vibrate" to turn the vibration alert on or off.
- 4). Scroll down the screen and find "New Text Message." The current alert sound is listed to the right.
- 5). Tap "New Text Message" to open your alert sound options.
- 6). Tap each listed sound to sample what it sounds like.
- 7). Tap the sound you want to use until it's marked with a check mark on the right side of the screen. This check lets you know the sound is selected.
- 8). Press the "Home" button to return to the home screen.
