How to Resize a Partition & Make One Big Partition

    • 1). Back-up all the files on the partition you want to combine with your main partition. This can be done with a flash drive, an external hard drive or a CD-R/DVD-R.

    • 2). Click the "Start" orb. Type "Disk Management" minus the quotes in the "Search" bar at the bottom.

    • 3). Click "Create and format hard disk partitions." The Disk Management program will then open.

    • 4). Right-click the partition you backed up files on and click "Delete Volume." Click "Yes" when asked if you really want to delete the partition or not.

    • 5). Right-click the volume you want to increase in size and select "Extend Volume." A dialog box will then appear.

    • 6). Click "Next." Set the box next to "Select the amount of space in MB" to the maximum available space in MB. Click "Next."

    • 7). Click "Finish." The main partition has been resized and now you have one big partition.
