How to Clean and Organize Your Craft Supplies Room

    • 1). Begin by eliminating all unnecessary trash, scrap fabrics, and old unusable tools that are lying around the craft room. Gather all this clutter into trash bags and dispose of them. Remove any spare furniture or boxes that aren't actively used in the craft room and store them elsewhere. Attics and basements are good places because they are easily accessible if you need to retrieve anything later.

    • 2). Install organizational shelves or place portable plastic drawers in the craft room in the new free space. Stash away all fabrics into the drawers or on the shelves. Add anything that is lying on the floor to the shelves to free up floor space. Reserve one shelf or drawer to use for current projects only so that you know exactly where they are when it's time to work on them again.

    • 3). Load an empty tackle box with all sewing supplies, using the separated sections to hold things like needles, buttons, embellishments, etc. and the large open space in the box for all your thread. Close and secure the tackle box and place it either on a shelf or on your sewing machine desk.

    • 4). Load some metal cans with all your pencils, pens, markers, and scissors and place them around your desk and shelves.

    • 5). Attach all instructions, how-tos, or craft directions to the wall using thumb tacks, eliminating any piles of paper that are lying around and freeing up space in your desk drawers. Finish by using either a label maker or sticky labels to mark the contents of drawers and other containers.
