How to Get Rid of Scuff Marks on Hardwood Floors

    • 1). Choose a cleaner. Solvent-based cleaners will help get rid of some of the scuff marks. To avoid damaging the surface, don't use chemical-based products on your hardwood floor.

    • 2). Apply the cleaner directly to the scuff mark, and scrub it off with a soft sponge. Avoid using any kind of abrasive sponge or scrubbing pad.

    • 3). Apply WD-40 to any scuff marks that were caused by the heel of a shoe. Heel marks can be a bit tougher to remove.

    • 4). Wipe up the WD-40 with paper towels.
