- 1). View the BlackBerry page at My Unlock Code, Unlocking or Mobile Unlocked (see Resources). These are all pay sites.
- 2). Select the 8220 from the list of phone models or from the drop-down menu.
- 3). Remove the phone's battery to find the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number. You'll be prompted for it at some point so the code to unlock your phone can be generated.
- 4). Wait for the email with the unlock code. It should arrive within hours. Copy the code into your phone precisely as it appears in the email. For example, "A4006J Send" should be typed on your keypad as 240065 when the BlackBerry is in phone mode. Submit the code into your phone by pressing the "Call/Talk" button.
- 5). Swap the new service carrier's (SIM) chip into the battery compartment for the old carrier's. If you still get an error message when you attempt a call, enter the code a few more times. If it still doesn't work, contact the company that sent you the code to have them correct the problem.
