How to Look After a Camper Mattress

    • 1). Buy a custom-fit camper mattress cover from a specialty shop or online retailer.

    • 2). Choose the color, texture and fabric you wish to use. Microfiber, faux-suede and faux leather variations are available from most retailers. Select a mattress cover that complements your existing decor, if possible.

    • 3). Size the cover to the dimensions of the camper mattress to protect it from dust, debris and dirt.

    • 4). Use additional bedding to reduce mattress lumps and inconsistencies in the cell structure of the mattress. Most memory foam RV camper mattresses provide better support than traditional spring mattresses and are manufactured to maintain their original height after repeated cycles of compression.

    • 5). Adhere to the cleaning instructions of the mattress. Flip and reverse as directed by the manufacturer. If your mattress does not dissipate heat while you sleep, increase the air flow and ventilation in your RV. Traditional visco memory foam mattresses pull heat from the body, trapping it in the mattress. Over time, this causes the mattress to lose its shape, and it begins to sag.
