How to Install a Dometic Air Conditioner in an RV

    • 1). Climb to the roof of the RV using a ladder. Determine a location free of any obstacles (such as lights or other interior wiring) to position your Dometic air conditioner.

    • 2). Mark a square on the roof large enough to fit both portions of the unit together. Double-check the measurements of the air conditioner to make sure it will fit in the hole before sawing. Also check that it will be mounted at least 8 inches away from the edge of the RV.

    • 3). Mark the location of the mounting bolts. Drill holes in the corners of the square. Saw a hole in the roof and place the roof unit in place. Secure the unit with the mounting bolts.

    • 4). Enter the RV and screw in the mounting bolts that hold the ceiling unit in place. Mount the ceiling unit and secure it to the ceiling portion of the unit.

    • 5). Use a caulk gun and apply sealant between the unit and roof. Attach the wires to the unit and connect the wires between the ceiling and roof units and the wiring to the generator. Follow the owner's manual for wire connection as it varies from model to model. Be sure to plug the ceiling and roof units together.
