How to Install an RV Septic Tank

    • 1). Park the RV and set the emergency brake. Disconnect all plumbing and water running to the RV.

    • 2). Locate the black water tank panel, which is typically in the rear left-hand side of the RV. Open the panel and grab the toilet hose in the back of the panel. Pull it out so the nozzle attachments are visible and easy to work with.

    • 3). Put the septic/black water tank into the designated housing. Screw down attachment bolts if present. Slide tow hose clamps over the hose and attach it to the tank's receiver valve. Slide the hose clamps over the valve and tighten to lock it into position. Apply a coating of silicone caulk around the hose connection points to make it water tight to prevent unwanted and hazardous leakage.

    • 4). Check the hose is attached to the back of the RV's toilet tank. Apply silicone caulk to the hose attachment point on the toilet to prevent seepage and leaks.

    • 5). Turn on the RV water and flush the toilet once to check that the flow of the bowl goes into the black water tank.
