How to Paint a Room With a High Sloped Ceiling

    • 1). Remove the furniture from the room and lay plastic sheets on the floor. If you can’t move the furniture out of the room, place it in the middle of the room and put plastic sheets over the furniture as well as the floor.

    • 2). Set up the ladder and climb it. Vacuum the walls and ceiling to remove any dust or cobwebs.

    • 3). Pour the primer into the roller sheet and coat the paint roller so it’s wet but not dripping. Apply the primer to the walls and ceiling in a V-shaped motion. Allow the primer to dry for 24 hours. Rinse out the roller sheet and the rollers when you’re done with the primer.

    • 4). Pour the ceiling paint into the roller sheet and coat the roller. Attach the roller extension arm to the end of the roller to reach the high ceiling better.

    • 5). Paint the ceiling, starting on the side of the room that corresponds to your writing hand. Paint to the other side of the room with a V-shaped pattern until the whole ceiling is painted. Climb the ladder to reach the highest spots of your ceiling. Rinse out the roller sheet and rollers when the ceiling is totally painted.

    • 6). Pour the wall paint in the roller sheet. Roll the paint roller in the paint until it’s covered but not dripping.

    • 7). Apply the paint to the walls in blocks of 4 feet by 4 feet. Paint each adjoining block before the neighboring block dries completely for an even coat of paint. Start on one side of the room and work your way around the whole room until it’s covered.

    • 8). Allow the paint to dry for at least 24 hours.
