How to Operate a Havahart Animal Trap

    • 1). Set your bait choice into the small bait basket and place it in the inside center of the trap. Use appropriate bait. For example, a chipmunk is more apt to be enticed by seeds or peanut butter, where a feral cat may go for an open can of tuna. If you are unsure what bait to use, use the Havahart animal bait guide at the Havahart.com website.

    • 2). Pull the Easy-Set handle up and back to set the Havahart doors to the ready position. When the animal walks into the trap to get the bait, it trips the pressure sensitive plate on the floor causing the door to drop down, trapping it in the cage.

    • 3). Place the trap on a flat surface near the animals den or where it has been frequently seen. Check the trap every few hours to see if the animal has taken the bait.

    • 4). Transport the animal to the new location. Point the trap door away from you and pull the Easy-Set handle up and over to open the door, freeing the animal in its new surroundings.
