How to Install a Toro Lawn Sprinkler System
- 1). Dig trenches in the ground where the pipes and Toro sprinklers will go according to the installation plan. Lay out the components of the Toro sprinkler system next to the trenches where they will be installed.
- 2). Sand down the ends of each piece of PVC pipe, until all rough edges are smooth.
- 3). Wipe PVC primer on the inside of the valve manifold outlet fittings and on the ends of the PVC pipe that fit into the fittings and lead out to the individual Toro sprinkler stations or zones.
- 4). Wipe PVC glue on the ends of the PVC station pipes and inside the valve manifold outlet fittings. Insert the pipes into the fittings and twist them a quarter turn to seat them snugly into the fitting. Hold the pipes in place for 15 seconds or until the glue dries.
- 5). Wipe PVC primer and glue onto each pipe and fitting. Fit them together one at a time, until each station is put together.
- 6). Wrap Teflon tape around the threads of each swing pipe assembly in the direction of the threads. Use a wrench to tighten the assembly to the fitting. Never tighten PVC parts with a wrench more than a full turn. Screw each swing pipe assembly into the fittings within the sprinkler station where you plan to install a sprinkler housing.
- 7). Wrap Teflon tape around the threads of each Toro sprinkler housing in the direction of the threads. Tighten each connection with a wrench. Screw each sprinkler housing into the other end of each swing pipe.
- 8). Fill the trenches with dirt and bury the pipes and sprinkler housings. Confirm that the sprinkler housings are vertical in the ground and that the spray heads are just above and even to the ground.
