How to Make Hair Bows With a Knot in the Middle
- 1). Measure and cut a piece of 1 1/2-inch wide ribbon to a length of 23 inches. Fold the piece of ribbon in half so that the two ends are lined up. Hold the two ends together and cut a “V” shape. Seal the ends of the ribbon by heating them with a cigarette lighter.
- 2). Spread the piece of ribbon out on a flat surface. Pull the left end of the ribbon over 4 1/2 inches. The decorative side of the ribbon should be facing on the outside of the folded ribbon section. Repeat this fold over three additional times. The ribbon should be folded on top of itself.
- 3). Pull the two “V” shape cut ends out from the folded piece of ribbon. Bunch the ribbon together in the center. Pinch small sections of the ribbon to create folds in the hair bow. Wrap a 2-inch piece of craft wire around the center of the bow several times. Twist the two ends of the wire together to secure the bow.
- 4). Pull the ribbon loops to the desired length. Fluff out the body of the bow until you have reached a satisfying look. Cut a piece of 3/8-inch wide ribbon to a length of 6 inches. Wrap this piece of ribbon around the center of the bow to hide the craft wire. Tie a knot in the back of the bow and cut the excess ribbon.
- 5). Seal the ends of the small ribbon piece with a dab of hot glue. Add any embellishments to the front of the bow, such as buttons, gemstones or glitter. Attach the alligator clip to the back of the hair bow with a line of hot glue. Give the hair bow a minimum of twenty minutes to completely dry.
