How to Create Cards Using Embossing Powder and a Heat Gun
- 1). Press the rubber stamp on the pigment ink stamp pad. Be sure the stamp image is completely covered in ink. Clear or colored pigment inks can be used. However, colored pigment ink works best with similar-colored embossing powder or clear embossing powder. When using clear pigment ink, any colored embossing powder can be used.
- 2). Press the inked stamp onto the card. Press down firmly to ensure the ink is evenly distributed on the paper.
- 3). Lightly tap the embossing powder over the stamped image, completely covering it.
- 4). Shake off any excess embossing powder onto a piece of scrap paper. Pour the leftover embossing powder back into its container. Your stamped image may look slightly distorted from the powder, but this will be corrected in the last step.
- 5). Turn on the heat gun. The heat gun will blow air, much like a hair dryer, but at a much higher temperature. Hold the heat gun 2 inches to 3 inches away from the stamped image and move it back and forth. The heat makes embossing powder raise the stamped image. When the image is completely raised and you no longer see a powdery residue, turn the heat gun off.
- 6). Place the card aside and allow the embossed image to cool.
