Making Kids' Handmade Greeting Cards
- 1). Make a card that fits a child's interests. For example, for a child who is interested in Superman, cut out a picture of Superman without the head and glue onto the front of a piece of folded card stock. Draw a birthday cake under Superman. Cut out a picture of the child's face and glue it on top of Superman's body. On the inside of the card write "Happy Birthday to a Super Kid!"
- 2). Use a card to tell your child how special they are to you. For example, on the front of a piece of folded card stock, write, "Do you know what makes me smile?" Glue a plastic craft mirror on the inside of the card stock and under the mirror write, "You!" Add embellishments around the edge of the mirror.
- 3). Make a money card for a child or a teenager. Cut out pictures of plain-looking socks, briefs, toothbrushes and other boring stuff from magazines and newspapers. On the front of the folded card stock write, "For your birthday, I am giving you something you're always out of..." Glue these pictures around the words. Fold a piece of printer paper into a small envelope and glue it to the inside of the folded card stock, with the flap facing outwards. Place a folded dollar into it or a gift card to their favorite store.
- 4). Make a treasure map card. Hide the child"s gift and make a card to look like a treasure map with clues to the location of the gift. Use permanent ink markers to draw the map on an unfolded piece of card stock. Tear some of the edge of the map and use a candle lighter to lightly burn some of the torn edges. Age the map by pouring strong coffee or tea into a bowl and dipping the card stock into it. After the paper has dried, roll it up and tie it with a length of ribbon.
