How to Paint With Pillars

    • 1). Use painter's tape and dropcloths to protect the floor around the pillar, and the ceiling (unless you are going to paint the ceiling the same color).

    • 2). Pour paint into the roller tray.

    • 3). Load the roller, but not too much. Too much paint in a roller can spatter. Roll off the roller well in the tray.

    • 4). Roll on the paint. Start at the top, and work downward. Use an up-and-down motion. This yields the best finish. Use all areas of the roller to apply all the loaded paint.

    • 5). Continue working with the roller until the pillar is covered. If you are having difficulty, remember you can use the paintbrush for uncovered parts.

    • 6). Fill in with the paintbrush, should there be any uncovered areas. You can also use the paintbrush to sweep away any drips.

    • 7). Repeat for any other pillars in the room.
