Garmin Forerunner 205 Troubleshooting
- Before attempting any major repairs, it is best to attempt the most simple and obvious solutions. If the unit does not power on, try charging the battery, ensuring that the charger is connected to a functioning outlet and checking that all wires are properly connected. If you are sure that the unit is receiving a charge and is fully powered, you will need to unlock the device. Attach the device to the charging cradle and ensure that the cradle is plugged in and receiving power. Press and hold the mode button and the reset button simultaneously for 10 seconds. Wait 3 seconds and power up the device, which should now operate normally.
- When attempting to pair your Forerunner 205 with a satellite, it is best to keep completely still. Moving while the device attempts to locate a satellite will disrupt the device's ability to do so. Be sure that the watch has an unobstructed view of the sky, stand still until the watch successfully locates the satellite and then begin your workout.
If your device still cannot locate a satellite, attempt a soft reset. Connect the device to power, press and hold the mode and reset buttons for 10 seconds, wait 3 seconds and power the device as normal. - If your device reads "GPS Software 0.00," you will need to reinstall the GPS chipset software. Go to the Garmin website and locate the appropriate chipset software download. You can follow the link found in the Resources section below. Download and run the application. When prompted by the software, connect the device to the computer using the provided USB cable and follow the on-screen instructions. When the program finishes, you can disconnect the device from your computer and power it on. The device should now indicate the appropriate GPS software version number. If it does not, repeat this process.
