- The maximum safe temperature for any type of refrigerator, including a mini fridge, is 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Food kept above this temperature for two hours or more may be growing pathogenic bacteria and should not be eaten.
- Unless you plan to use your mini fridge as a freezer, you should not set the temperature any lower than 33 degrees Fahrenheit because food freezes at 32 degrees. A mini fridge set to 35 degrees or below still may freeze food near the cooling element and will waste energy.
- According to the USDA, all refrigerators should be set so they maintain a temperature of 40 degrees or lower. The EPA suggests that people keep their fridge at 37 degrees, although anything between 37 and 40 degrees is safe.
