Spread newspaper onto a level and out of the way area of sidewalk in your backyard. Follow the package directions to mix the mortar to the correct consistency using a large plastic bucket, a shovel and a water hose. Choose an aluminum or plastic cake pan or container (2 to 3 inches high), to use as a mold for each paver. Spray each mold thoroughly with vegetable spray (Pam etc.). - 2

Fill each mold half way to the top with mortar, then tap the bottom against the ground a few times (to get rid of air bubbles). Pour in the rest of the mixture to 1/4 inch from top of mold then tap the pan again, then wait 3-5 minutes. - 3

Add decorating materials like smooth rocks, glass stones and shells. Press your decorating materials firmly into the wet mortar to make your chosen patterns and pictures. - 4

Choose the materials to make imprints, after waiting 15-20 minutes from the time you mixed the mortar. Use leaves, flowers and cookie cutters etc. Pick a material for making your imprint and press it firmly onto an area of wet mortar in your mold. Press it down evenly on all sides, at least 1/2 inch into the wet mortar, then remove it. - 5

Spray with water and cover with plastic wrap for 2 days. Remove the plastic, turn the paver over then lay it on newspaper and tap gently it to remove it from mold. Turn it back over and use a stiff brush to remove any mortar from the rocks, glass stones, shells etc. Dust off paver with soft cloth. Spray with water and cover with plastic wrap and let dry for 2 more weeks. Install the dried pavers in your garden, when they are dry, burying them flush to the ground to protect them from cracking.
