How Growing Herbs Indoors Can Be Beneficial

Terrariums are fun projects you can create for fun by yourself or with others.
It makes for a great project to do with your little ones or significant other.
When making an herb terrarium, you can guarantee lots of delicious future means.
When you are able to pick your very own herbs in your very own kitchen, you will be so proud of yourself.
You can't expect anything fresher then that! When choosing the herbs for your kitchen, be sure that you can supply their needs when it comes to sunlight, nutrition, etc.
When planting mine, I decided to grow parsley, mint, and tarragon because they only needed partial sunlight.
My kitchen isn't super sunny so I didn't want anything that needed tons of natural light.
If you decide to go with flowers instead, make sure to check for their needs also.
I had trouble finding any small flowers that didn't need full light, but perhaps you will have more luck.
Some great ways to use your handmade terrariums might include decoration, gifting, or even selling at local craft shows or online.
I bet your Mom would love to open up a package on Mother's Day to find beautiful herbs that you planted yourself.
Another great holiday would be Valentine's Day for your significant other that loves to cook.
Of course you could do them for birthdays and other holidays as well, but those were two of my favorites! When caring for your herb terrarium, remember that too much water can lead to mold (especially a covered terrarium).
I prefer uncovered terrariums myself, but you can do them either way you'd prefer.
I typically use a spray bottle to spray my terrarium each day, but if you feel the soil is too dry, add some more.
The rocks are much needed for the drainage of your plant, so be sure you don't forget to add them! I suggest one to two inches depending on the size of your herb terrarium.
If you'd like to spice up the looks of your terrarium, you can place objects in your terrarium to make tiny scenes.
Some ideas may be houses, mushrooms, animals, miniature people, small fake flowers, etc.
To make your own decorations, you can use polymer clay.
Using the clay directions, place your polymer clay creation in your home oven.
If you'd like to add different colors, you can use acrylic paint to paint them.
I would definitely suggest clear coating them with a regular gloss spray paint to protect them from the water.
Remember to add sticks to your creation to stick into the soil.
Anything that can be heated in the oven will do just fine.
My favorite thing about herb terrariums is the ease of grabbing your very own fresh grown herbs right from your kitchen.
I hope you enjoy my do it yourself tutorial (that you can find below) on how to make one yourself.
Enjoy!
