- Before you begin to paint your all weather furniture, you will want to remove any cushions and set them to the side.
Also, any accessories such as cup holders that you don't want painted should be removed from the furniture.
Once all the accessories are removed, clean your furniture thoroughly to prepare the pieces for painting.
On natural wicker furniture, you will want to use a cloth or sponge and soapy water to clean the pieces section by section.
Once you've cleaned your pieces, you will want to let them dry out thoroughly. - Set your all weather furniture on a tarp, to catch any paint that drips while you are painting your furniture.
If you are painting natural wicker that has been painted in the past, you will want to remove any paint flakes or chips with sandpaper.
Now you will prime your furniture with a coat of deglosser to ensure that your paint sticks to the wicker.
Alternatively, you can use paint primer.
Coat the surface of each piece with the deglosser or primer making sure that all the surfaces are evenly covered. - The easiest type of paint to use on wicker furniture is an all weather spray paint.
Spray paint covers the fibers evenly and won't pool up in between the weave pattern.
Spray all the surfaces of the furniture evenly, using broad sweeping motions to paint.
Keep spraying from different angles until every inch of your furniture is covered.
Let your first coat dry, and repeat the spray painting process.
If your wicker had never been painted before, you may require three coats to get the depth of color you are looking for.
After all your painting is dry, coat the furniture pieces with a protective spray varnish.
The varnish will serve to add a shine to the surface of your furniture, while protecting the paint from chipping.
Let the varnish dry thoroughly, and you are ready to put your furniture back out on your patio or outdoor space.
Once you put the cushions back, your all weather furniture will look like new.
