How to Transfer Songs From an iPod to an iTunes Playlist

    • 1). Connect the USB cable to your iPod and your computer. If you're prompted to sync to iTunes, select the "Cancel" option.

    • 2). Access the "My Computer" folder by clicking the "Start" button on your computer desktop.

    • 3). Double-click "iPod">"iPod Control">"Music." If these folders are hidden, click "Tools"> "Folder Options">"View." Click the box next to "Show hidden files and folders" and click "OK."

    • 4). Drag and drop the selected music files from the iPod into a folder of your choice on the computer. The files will transfer from the iPod and save to the folder on your computer.

    • 5). Drag and drop the files from the saved folder into the iTunes application. If iTunes doesn't launch, open it by clicking the iTunes icon on your desktop.

    • 6). Sort the music files into a playlist. Drag and drop the music files in your iTunes library into any of your Playlists on the left side of the application. To create a new playlist, click the "+" button underneath the "Playlists" menu and name it. Drag and drop the songs into the new playlist to complete.
