How Can I Add an Extra Audio Track Onto a DVD Movie?

Extract the ISO From the DVD

    • 1). Download a DVD ISO image file extraction program. Programs that can pull an ISO file from a DVD include DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink. Install the ISO extraction program on your computer.

    • 2). Place the DVD that you want to add the extra audio track to into the DVD drive of your computer and launch the ISO extraction program.

    • 3). Choose the "ISO>Read" mode in the ISO extraction program. Click the "Decrypt" or "Backup" button to create a copy of the ISO image file from the disc on your computer.

    • 4). Select the folder on the hard drive that you would like the ISO to save into and enter a name for the file. Click "Save."

Extract the Video Files From the ISO

    • 1). Install either WinZIP or WinRAR. These two free Win programs provide an easy method for extracting video object files, or VOBs, from ISOs.

    • 2). Go to the "Start" menu, "Computer" or "My Computer" and double-click the hard drive that contains the ISO file. Navigate to the folder where the file is stored and right-click the ISO.

    • 3). Choose "Extract" from the menu that appears. All of the VOB files inside the ISO are extracted and appear in the same folder.

    Convert the VOB to AVI

    • 1). Open your web browser. Go to Media-Convert or Media Converter.

    • 2). Click "Upload a File" and then "Browse" in Media Converter or just "Browse" in Media-Convert. Find the VOB file that you want to add the extra audio track. If you are looking for the movie file, or main file on the DVD, it is almost always the largest file.

    • 3). Use the drop-down menu by "Output format" and select "AVI," which is a video file format accepted in most video-editing programs. Click "OK" to convert the file.

    • 4). Leave the conversion site up as the conversion takes place. When the conversion is done, a link appears on the screen. Click the link to download the AVI file.

    Add the Audio

    • 1). Open a video-editing program on your computer, such as Windows Movie Maker or iMovie. Under the "File" menu, click "Import" and find the AVI file you converted. Double-click it to add it to the program.

    • 2). Click "Import" again and locate the audio track you want to add to the movie in the window that appears. Double-click the audio file to add it to the program.

    • 3). Press the "Show Timeline" button or the timeline viewer button to show additional audio tracks if they are not already showing in the video-editing program.

    • 4). Drag the AVI video file you converted onto the "Video" track of the timeline. Drag the audio track that you want to add to the "Audio" track of the timeline. Click on the audio track and drag it to move to any point on the timeline. Press the play button in the preview screen to preview the video with the added audio track.

    • 5). Save the project as a movie file. To save, go to either the "File" or "Share" menu and choose the "Publish" or "Export" option. Enter a name for the movie file and click "Publish."
