Instructions
1Look at your handbook and instructions for troubleshooting this problem first. This may save you lots of time, especially since tape drive problems sometimes have nothing to do with the hardware. Often times the computer is safeguarding itself against backup interruption or you must correct an error in your software application.
2
Call the hot line if the instructions seem too complicated.
3
Turn the unit off and restart. Try to unload the tape again. Some recommendations say you should try this six times in a row before attempting manual ejection.
4
Go to the operations menu and select the unload tape from drive option. Make sure to select the correct drive.
5
Power down, disconnect and remove the outer cover. Slide the drive forward and lay it on it's side. Insert a Phillips screwdriver in the rewind hole and turn counter clockwise.
6
Pull out the solenoid and use pliers to turn the D-shaft to eject the tape.
