What Are the Advantages of Zero Turn Lawn Mowers?

    Identification

    • A zero-turn lawn mower's engine is rear-mounted behind the seat so that you have an unobstructed view of your mowing path. This type of mower has rear-wheel drive with each back tire moving independently through its own transmission. This allows the mower to turn in its own footprint.

    Features

    • Instead of a steering wheel, there are two levers to control speed and direction. To turn left you push the right lever forward so that the flow of transmission fluid to the right tire reduces and the mower spins to the left. The reverse of this process creates right turns.

    Size

    • Zero-turn mowers have larger engines and larger decks so that you may mow faster and cover a wider area in each direction.

    Benefits

    • Zero-turn mowers allow you to cut grass in tight spaces and effectively cut close to trees and other objects in your yard. Eliminating the need for a string trimmer will save you valuable time on lawn care.

    Considerations

    • This type of lawn mower is more expensive than a traditional riding lawn mower but it will save many hours of yard work. Landscapers choose a zero-turn mower to enable them to quickly cut lawns and therefore create more income.
