Soda Beer Tabs Projects
- A bracelet made of 20 to 30 pull tabs and some elastic cord is a simple project. Loop the elastic cord through the first tab and set it in the middle of the cord. Hold another tab below your first tab with the smooth sides facing out, and thread the cord up from the bottom through both tabs, bringing the top cord through top hole and bottom cord through bottom hole. Add more tabs and keep looping through until the ends meet each other comfortably around the wrist. Bring the ends of the cord together, tie them in a tight knot and trim of the ends of cord.
- Using two long lengths of cord or narrow ribbon, tie the two lengths together a few inches from the ends. Weave the cords through each hole of one tab and through the second tab so it overlaps the first in the same style as the bracelet. Push the cord back through the holes of the second and first tab and cross over the cords. Thread the crossed cords through a third tab and push the cord back through the holes of the third and second tab. Repeat this process until you have a belt big enough for your waist. Knot the ends, leaving enough to use to tie the belt and trim off any excess.
- Reminiscent of beaded curtain from decades ago, these are made by connecting pull tabs to paper clips. Simply slide a paper clip onto the top of the tab as if it were a stack of papers, and then pull it up. Slide a tab wrong side out under the outer edge of the paper clip, then insert the end of the clip into the bottom hole of the tab and pull it up. Repeat until the desired length is achieved and continue until you have enough strands to hang in your window or door. To add some color to these, slide some seed beads onto the paper clip and then hook the second tab on. These can be hung from any window or door frame with small picture hooks or decorative hooks.
- Using plastic yarn or cording, weave a strip of tabs together in the same pattern as the belt and make numerous strips of tabs of the same length. Whip-stitch the strips together to create a rectangle-shaped tab surface. Sew a liner of sturdy cotton in the same size to the pop tabs by hand and then fold the rectangle in half. Whip-stitch the sides together to form the clutch. A magnetic closure or any regular snap can be applied to the top of the inside lining to secure the opening.
