Cause

• Overwatering the lawn is the main cause of mushrooms. Humidity plays a big role as well. Although the air is dry in Arizona, too much water distributed too often on a lawn can cause mushrooms to grow.
  
  

Solution

• Rake up existing mushrooms and destroy them. This will keep curious pets and children from being harmed by eating them. Allow the soil to dry out and the mushrooms will stop growing.
  
  

Considerations

• Mushrooms growing in a circle in the lawn are known as fairy rings. To remove this fungi, aerate the lawn. If that doesn't help, you can replace the infested soil or hire a landscaping company to apply the appropriate fungicide.
