- 1). Cut 3½ yards of sturdy cotton fabric and double-hem all four edges, folding them over twice and sewing along the length.
- 2). Fold the short ends six inches inward and sew the edge four or five times for a strong hold. This will create a long loop running along both ends of your piece of fabric.
- 3). Thread a length of climbing rope through each loop and scrunch the loops inward, creating the narrow hammock shape.
- 4). Use an electronic stud finder to locate the wooden studs behind the walls in your room. Pre-drill holes in two studs on opposite sides of the room and insert a large screw eye into each hole.
- 5). Run the rope on one end of your hammock through a screw eye and tie its ends together, securing the hammock to the wall. Do the same with the other rope and the opposite screw eye to finish hanging your hammock.
