How to Draw a Cat With Symmetry
- 1). Draw a straight, vertical line down the middle of your page. If necessary, use a ruler to help you accurately draw this straight line. In order to draw a cat as symmetrically as possibly, you must have a center line to define this balance.
- 2). Sketch a circle at the very top of this symmetrical line to create the head of the cat. Make sure that this circle is split evenly by the symmetrical line. Sketch a horizontal line through the middle of the section so that the circle is divided into four equal sections.
- 3). Draw two ovals in each of the upper quarters of the cat's head. These shapes will act as the eyes, with pupils drawn as small circles inside each of the ovals. Use a ruler to measure exact widths and heights so that both eyes match perfectly.
- 4). Sketch an upside-down triangle just below the eyes to represent the cat's nose. Use the ruler to divide this nose as evenly as possibly between the line of symmetry. Draw two U-shaped lines from the middle of the nose to represent the upper half of the cat's mouth. Draw a single U-shaped line, divided by the line of symmetry, to craw the lower portion of the cat's mouth.
- 5). Draw medium-sized triangles on either side of the cat's head. These ears should be adequately placed on top of the cat's face. Use a ruler to measure the dimensions for accurate symmetry if necessary. Clean up both sides of the cats face, just below the ears and down to the mouth.
- 6). Sketch an elongated oval below the head of the cat using light pencil marks to form the basic body shape. Check the width of the body in select areas with the ruler to ensure that this outline is symmetrical.
- 7). Draw two small ovals, one overlapping each side of the cat's main body. These two shapes will represent the hind legs of the cat. Use light pencil strokes until you are confident in the congruency of these two legs.
- 8). Use the symmetrical line as a guide to draw the two front legs of the cat. Draw a half circle line, split down the middle, at the very bottom of the cat's body to represent the feet of the cat. Divide both of these feet with equally proportioned toes and claws, ensuring that both sides of the symmetrical line match as perfectly as you can.
- 9). Measure 1.5 inches out from the line of symmetry on both sides and make a small pencil mark. Draw two vertical lines up from each of the front feet to define the legs of the cat you are drawing. Make sure each of the legs stops half-way up the body of the cat.

Erase the line of symmetry and check your drawing with the picture you were using as a reference guide. Clean up any shaky lines and fix any sections of the cat that do not reflect the mirrored sections on the other side. - 11
Trace all intended pencil marks of the cat with an ink pen to create a bolder look in your drawing. Carefully line each of these pencil lines, ensuring that you do not make any errors or smear any of the ink during this process.
