How to Level a Yard for an Easy Set Pool

    • 1). Construct a leveling board that is one foot longer than the diameter of the Easy Set pool. For example, if you have a 15-foot pool, you need a 16-foot board. Butt two 8-foot long, 2-by-4 boards end to end. Nail a 2-foot long board on each side where the two longer boards meet to brace them together.

    • 2). Drill a hole in the center of your leveling board with a 3/8-inch drill bit. Use a hammer to drive a metal rod into the ground at the center of the area where you want to place the pool. Leave 12 inches of the rod above the ground.

    • 3). Pour a 2-inch layer of sand onto the pool area and spread it evenly with a garden rake. Position the hole on your leveling board over the center rod. Place a 4-foot level on top of the leveling board.

    • 4). Rotate the leveling board across the entire perimeter of the pool location, spinning the board around the steel rod. Watch the bubble on the level to ensure the entire perimeter is level. Add sand where necessary.

    • 5). Soak the sand thoroughly with a garden hose to compact the sand. Tamp the sand down with a hand tamper. Hand tampers are available at home improvement centers and resemble a flat piece of iron on a handle.

    • 6). Check the level of the area once you tamp down the sand. Again, add sand where necessary until the entire area is level according to the 4-foot level on the board. Pull your board off the steel bar and pull the bar out of the ground once the area is level.
