Nuvi 200W vs. 250W
- Compact and lightweight, the Nuvi 200W and Nuvi 250W measure 4.8 inches wide, 2.9 inches high and 0.9 inches deep, with a weight of 6.1 ounces. Each unit features a thin-film transistor color landscape touch screen that measures 3.8 inches wide, 2.3 inches high and 4.2 inches diagonally. It displays at 480 by 272 pixels of resolution with a white back light. These screens provide ample room for map display with crisp detail. A standard lithium-ion battery provides each device with up to five hours of power when fully charged.
- The Nuvi 200W features pre-installed maps of the United States, including Puerto Rico and Hawaii, while the Nuvi 250W is equipped with maps of North America, including Canada and Mexico. Both units provide standard navigational voice commands, such as "Turn right in 400 feet." Up to 500 waypoints, or favorites, can be programmed into each device. The MapSource City Navigator NT software application, which comes with each unit, facilitates the synchronization of map data between a personal computer and the GPS device. GPS-to-PC connectivity is possible only if the computer is running Windows XP or newer, or Mac OS X 10.4 or later, operating systems.
- Both the Nuvi 200W and the Nuvi 250W come with internal solid state drive flash memory and contain a Secure Digital card slot for expanded memory, ideal for adding more maps to the device. A high-sensitivity receiver is built into each unit, enabling it to receive satellite signals when in hard-to-reach locations, such as indoors or underground. A built-in viewer enables users to see pictures using either device. Software applications that come with the Nuvi 200W and Nuvi 250W include a world travel clock and a currency and unit conversion calculator.
- Additional navigational features contained in both the Nuvi 200W and the Nuvi 250W include 2-D and 3-D map displays and access to the Garmin Garage website through a PC, where custom car icons and custom voices can be downloaded. Both units come with the Garmin Lock anti-theft feature and the capability of adding custom points of interest information. For charging and placing the unit in your car, both the Nuvi 200W and Nuvi 250W come with a car power adapter and a windshield mount.
