How do I Build a Pondless Waterfall With an Aquabasin Indoors?

    • 1). Prepare the container by painting the inside with water sealer. Let it dry according to manufacturer's instructions.

    • 2). Place the aqua basin in the container, then layout the container, pump and weir. A weir is a box with a protruding ledge at the top of the waterfall that acts as a reservoir to gather water pumped up from the aqua basin to the weir. Once the water fills the weir, it's forced over the ledge and back down into the aqua basin.

    • 3). Lay the liner over the area, securing the edges by bracing bricks against the liner. The bricks will outline the flow of the water, and the liner will protect the area from water damage. Trim the liner and then glue the liner to the bricks with waterproof silicone adhesive.

    • 4). Arrange the rocks or stones over the line as desired to create a step-like cascade for the water to flow over.

    • 5). Place the pump vault in the aqua basin and connect the weir to the pump vault by cutting the outlet opening on the pump vault---usually at the center of the top marked by circular cutouts---with a utility knife and inserting the corrugated tubing.

    • 6). Insert the pump in the vault and connect the tubing to the pump.

    • 7). Connect the pump to the weir by pushing through the knockout hole with a screwdriver and hammer. Wrap the adapters with Teflon tape and connect one adapter to the weir. Place the hose clamp over one end of the tubing and connect the other adapter to the pump. Attach the tubing to the pump adapter.

    • 8). Arrange your decorative items to hide the pump, liner tubing and bricks. Fill the container with water and turn on your pump.
